Join us for RIOTA's Annual Business Meeting:

Everyday Advocacy

free for all OT practitioners

Join us for an in-person only event, where we will gather to discuss important matters for the RI Occupational Therapy community and how we can advocate for change in our everyday practice. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Participants will:

  1. Gain an appreciation of the breadth of advocacy potential at the individual, group and population levels
  2. Gain familiarity with local and federal resources to find their legislative representatives, monitor legislation, provide testimony and seek assistance
  3. Gain an appreciation for the practical application of advocacy principles and resources as depicted in RIOTA’s historical initiatives and through sample situations to practice

About the association

The function and powers of RIOTA include:

  1. Act as an advocate for the profession of occupational therapy.

  2. Improve and advance the education and collaboration of occupational therapy practitioners.

  3. Promote research in the profession of occupational therapy.

  4. Encourage high standards.

  5. Engage in other professional and community activities to further the dissemination of knowledge of the practice of occupational therapy.  

  6. Cooperate with other individuals or groups concerned with health-related issues.

  7. Increase consumer awareness of application of occupational therapy practice in the community and the scope of occupational therapy practice to assist an individual to achieve life pursuits.
