Working with families whose children have special health care needs requiring occupational therapy services can be a challenge, even in the best of circumstances. It is the intent of this presentation to give voice to the parents’ perspective on having children with special needs and how they may view their own participation in the service delivery process. Real life examples offered from participants for the purpose of group discussion would be welcomed as we all strive to provide the most meaningful supports to families in RI.

Dr. Greg Waldorf, pediatric optometrist, and Rebecca Collins, occupational therapist, will discuss their multidisciplinary approach to evaluating and treating children with vision related learning issues. The presenters have combined a traditional optometric program of vision therapy with an occupational therapy program to provide a well rounded approach to improving children’s function.
